the end
Well folks, there you go. I hope you liked some of these. Or at least recognize how hard they are to build.
I've been building things most of my life, mostly bookshelves and the like at first. Over the years I became pretty good at how to put wood together correctly, mainly by throwing a lot of it away. And I've always liked to look at furniture, but after a while you just see the same old things with their own little twists.
About seven or eight years ago I decided to try to build something different.
What you've seen here is what I've accumulated. They averaged around four months a piece. Half of it wondering what to do and the other half wondering how to do it.
Actually working the wood usually goes quickly.
But it's always a compromise between the two.
As far as inspiration goes, I find it everywhere. Sometimes it's a piece of wood, sometimes a shape I see. And sometimes it's just an idea that pops into my head. I think you can drop three sticks on the ground and get an idea. But the idea is just a starting point, really.
After that, it's a puzzle. Trying to get my brain and the wood to agree. This is where I get most of my fun.
I'm retired now, so I'll have more time and hopefully finish them more quickly. I'll try to keep the "in the shop" page up to date.
Also, I'm looking for a house in PA. I'm in CA now.
As far as the prices go, I think they're too low.
But I'm flexible. And I'm moving.
If you see something you like, make me an offer.
Thanks!
