And still more

Not much to say here. I just had this picture in my head; vase, yellow flower and all.
Funny thing, it took about an hour to turn the little vase, but three or four to cut it off at 15 deg. I had the hardest time holding it steady to cut.
Also, I wanted to dovetail the sides of the little triangular drawer, but dovetails at an angle are beyond me. So I made two drawers and made one out of the two.
Kinda hard to explain.

Well, this is pretty straight forward. The hardest part was figuring out the feet. Again, I just sit there and eliminate possibilities in my mind 'til I get close, then start with rude mock-ups. Eventually, I get something I like. The photo makes them look purplish. They are actually red mahogany.
When I got to the end, I needed just a little mahogany on top to balance it out, so I added the little diamond on the top. Kind of a shame, too. The four pieces of the top met perfectly in the center.
I swear they did.
I made this because I wanted to make the joints with the wedges, and I made the face first. The rest of the cabinet just kinda went where it went.
I did have fun dressing it up, though. The birds eye pine makes it.
There is a secret compartment underneath the bottom shelf.

I had the little box from something else that didn't work out, so I just built a little table around it. I like the way it sits on the corners of the feet.
The table is very white, so I wanted the drawer pulls to stand out. I cut the purple heart leaves on the bandsaw and shaped them by hand. The rings are dyed poplar.
I looked everywhere for a piece of yellowish wood for the stem, but finally gave up. I used a piece of a small dead branch off the orange tree in the back yard, and when I put a clear finish on it, it turned yellow!
Now I know.
